- It's certainly one of the better low-end v.34 modems around. The
- difference is laregely in the little low-level technical features that you
- never hear about. A modem only needs to support some parts of the v.34
- protocol to be called a "v.34 modem", but there are also several optional
- parts of v.34 that some manufactuers implement while others do not. USR
- has one of the most complete v.34 implementations around (eg. they're the
- only modems I've found to support 64-state trellis decoding). Now, that
- being said, there are some other very good modems around, such as Motorola
- Power/Lifestyles. Also, recently USR's tech support has been looking very
- weak for their Sportster line, and USR does seem to have a bit of a
- quality control problem.
